Seven Athletes from Seven different schools have been named the Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week.

Each athlete was nominated by his or her coach. All statistics incurred from January 23rd through January 28th.

Below is a look at each Athlete of the Week by sport:

 

Girls Basketball

 

Name: Myer Miller

Grade:  Sophomore

School:  Crestview High School

Stats:  

Coaches Quote:  “Myer is a hard worker and high-character person and teammate. She made some great hustle plays to help us pull away from Lowellville this week and has been a key contributor to our 16-2 start. She is an excellent shooter and smart player who has greatly improved her defense throughout the season. I’m excited to watch her continue to improve,” according to head coach Aaron Blatch.

 

Name: Mia Sloan

Grade:  Freshmen

School: Labrae High School

Stats: 3.8 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 2.1 spg

Coaches Quote:  “Mia is progressing into a solid point guard and floor leader for our team. She loves to defend and never backs down from a challenge. Mia is always willing to do whatever it takes to help our team achieve success,” according to head coach Mandy Rowe.

 

Boys Basketball

Name: Aiden Stanke

Grade:  Junior

School: Jackson Milton High School

Stats:  Over the course of our last two games Aiden Stanke has averaged 18ppg and has played well on the defensive end. 

Coaches Quote: “Aiden Stanke has averaged 18ppg over our last two games. In a big win against McDonald, Aiden led the team in scoring with 22 points. He also took on the challenge of guarding one of McDonalds best players. Against Waterloo, Aiden got us going in the first half of the game with some big shots that kept us within striking distance,” according to head coach Stephen Procopio.

 

Name: Isaiah Jones

Grade:  Senior

School: Brookfield High School

Stats:  In two games he averaged 28 points, 4 assists, and 15.5 rebounds

Coaches Quote: “Isaiah is playing his best basketball he’s played in 4 his years as a varsity player both offensively and defensively.  It’s been fun to watch,” according to head coach Shawn Hammond.

 

Name: Jon Rozzi

Grade:  Sophomore

School:  Mineral Ridge High School

Stats:  Vs. Springfield – 15 pts, 1 reb  &  Vs. W. Reserve – 14 pts, 3 rebs

Coaches Quote: “Jon has continuously improved since we started in November. He has shown that he is coachable and has leadership abilities. I am proud of him for grabbing the opportunities given to him and taking advantage of them. He is and will continue to be a big part of our program,” according to head coach Eric Harper.

 

Bowling

Name:  Kaziah Boudrey

Grade:  Senior

School:  Campbell Memorial High School

Stats:  Bowled a 176-204

Coaches Quote:  “Kaziah has been on fire lately. She has scored well over her average leading to a victory over Crestview, in a hotly contested match,” according to head coach Tim Malone.

 

Name:  Krysa Dickson

Grade:  Senior

School:  Champion High School

Stats:  Averaged 193

Coaches Quote:  “Krysa came up big for us in a pivotal match against an undefeated Garfield team leading the way with a 184 and 211. At the sectional preview tournament on Saturday, she came away with the 3 rd high series for the tournament and the  2nd high game,” according to head coach Howard Moore.
