Nine Athletes from seven different schools have been named the Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week.
Each athlete was nominated by his or her coach. All statistics incurred during the first few weeks of spring sports.
Below is a look at each Athlete of the Week by sport:
Softball
Name: MiLeena Williams
Grade: Sophomore
School: Campbell Memorial High School
Stats: Last week MiLeena batted a 556 with a .609 OBP. She had 8 RBIs, 13 runs, and no strike outs in 23 plate appearances. She also had 13 stolen bases and 33 put outs between catching and 3rd base. Mileena hit a double in the 7th inning with 2 outs against harding to put us back in the lead.
Coaches Quote: “Mileena led her team offensively and defensively to a 3 game win streak. She played outstanding defensive throughout and came through in clutch moments for her team at the plate,” according to head coach Paul Kish.

Stats: 12 innings pitched, 8 hits, 2 earned runs, 1 walk, 10 strikeouts
Coaches Quote: “Macayle took over the two games against McDonald this week when she pitched a total of 12 innings with only 2 earned runs, walking one and striking out 10. She has also been aggressive at the plate and putting the ball in play leading the team with on base percentage. She was also the only hit for the team in the first game against McDonald with a shot to left field to earn herself a triple,” according to head coach Mariah Ciccolelli.

Stats: 45K, Perfect game vs Badger, Perfect game vs Sebring, Gave up 2 hits, 0 ERA
Coaches Quote: “Bella O’Brien has been a fierce weapon for the McDonald softball team. Giving up only two hits, 45 strikeouts, and a zero earned run average. She has also pitched two perfect games. Bella stays focused the moment she steps on the mound,” according to head coach Michelle Titus.
