Three Athletes from three different schools have been named the Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week.

Each athlete was nominated by his or her coach. All statistics incurred during the week of April 16th through April 22nd.

Below is a look at each Athlete of the Week by sport:

Coaches Quote:  “Bella did a wonderful job for us at the plate this past week and defensively at shortstop.  She is a fierce competitor.  Bella also makes it all look so easy.  She is fun to watch,” according to head coach Cheryl Weaver.

 

Name: Paige Grope

Grade:  Senior

School:  Jackson-Milton High School

Stats:  BA: .857  –  14 at bats  –  12 hits (6 singles, 4 doubles, 1 triple, 1 homerun)  –  7 RBI  0 strikeouts

Coaches Quote:  “Paige is a huge part of our lineup batting in the lead off spot and leading the team in batting average. She is the most consistent hitter and in the last four games, went 12-for-14 at the plate with 7 RBIs and zero strikeouts. She is also our general in the outfield, playing center field and communicating to her teammates in big time situations. Paige is a leader on and off the field and is willing to step up and do what is best for the team,” according to head coach Mariah Ciccolelli.
