Six Athletes from four different schools have been named the Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week.

Each athlete was nominated by his or her coach. All statistics incurred during the first few weeks of spring sports.

Below is a look at each Athlete of the Week by sport:

 

Softball

 

Name: Brooke Brubaker

Grade:  Junior

School:  Crestview High School

Stats: Batting avg .500 PA- 18 AB-14 R-2 H-7 RBI-5 2B-3 OBP-.588

Coaches Quote:  “Brooke works very hard and has a real passion for the sport.  She is an extremely difficult out at the plate.  She is a team captain and great leader on and off the field,” according to head coach Melvin Miller.

 

Name: Morgan Davis

Grade:  Senior

School:  Champion High School

Stats: BA .462  Slug .615  Hits 6  1B 5  3B 1  RBI’s 4  Runs 2  Sac B 1  Sac Fly 1  Field% 1.000  Put-Outs  5

 

Coaches Quote:  “Morgan did a great job for us in the 4 games we played in the time frame of 4/5 thru 4/10 against Ursuline, Marlington, Hoover, and Garfield.  What is also so great about Morgan is how loose she stays and the fun she has playing the game.  She never stops smiling and cheering for her team,” according to head coach Cheryl Weaver.

 

Name: Mia Greco

Grade:  Senior

School:  Jackson-Milton High School

Stats:  12 at bats, BA: .667, 8 hits (4 singles, 3 doubles, 1 homerun), 8 RBI’s, 4 stolen bases

Coaches Quote:  “Mia has been hot at the plate leading the team in batting average the last three games batting .667. She has had 8 hits in 12 at bats and uses her speed to get around the bases. She has stolen 4 bases in the last three games alone and is always pushing to earn extra bases on her hits. She also covers a ton of ground at shortstop, running down fly balls and using her vertical to rob line drives,” according to head coach Mariah Ciccolelli.

 

Baseball

Name: Noah Hughes

Grade:  Senior

School: Waterloo High School

Stats: 6 IP, 6 Strikeouts, 1 ER, also had 5 hits last week.

Name: Aaren Romigh

Grade:  Senior

School: Jackson-Milton High School

Stats:  (Pitching)- 13 Innings pitched, 4 hits, 2 runs, 18 K’s, No hitter vs Lowellville on 4-18-23    (Hitting)- 6 Hits, 8 RBIs, .366 avg 

 

Coaches Quote: “Aaren has been a main contributor all season whether it’s at the plate or on the mound. He’s a main staple in the program, providing great leadership,” according to head coach Matt Ruby.

 

Track & Field

Name: Ryen Romigh

Grade:  Sophomore

School: Jackson-Milton High School

Stats: 1st in High Jump, 2nd in Long Jump, 2nd in 400m

Coaches Quote: “Ryen has been off to a great season so far in Track. He has placed in every meet so far in 3 events: High Jump, Long Jump, and the 400m. He continues to hit new PRs every meet. We are very excited to see how his season progresses,” according to head coach Abbey Fishtorn.
